Kathleen's Brown Sugar Cut-Out Cookie Recipe #1
Ingredients:
2 cups sweet unsalted butter, softened
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
2 extra- large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract (or flavoring of your choice)
1 teaspoon salt
6 cups all-purpose unbleached flour
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and powdered sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
2. Combine flour, baking powder, cream of tartar, nutmeg, B&V, and salt, blend into creamed mixture.
3. Divide dough into fourths and shape each into a log. Roll each log between two sheets of parchment paper to 1/8” - 1/4” thickness. Chill in the refrigerator for approximately 30 minutes.
4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Using cookie cutters, cut out desired shapes on parchment baking sheets, keeping same sizes together for even baking and place them baking on sheets.
5. Bake for 8-10 minutes until desired color and doneness. Cool completely on wire racks.
Recipe Makes Approximately 6 – 8 dozen 2-1/2”-3” cookies.

1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon fresh nutmeg, ground (optional)
1/2 teaspoon almond extract (or lemon)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Butter & Vanilla Powder Flavor

4 teaspoons baking powder.

6 cups all-purpose unbleached flour
2 teaspoons vanilla extract (or desired flavorings)
2-3 tablespoons Milk (if dough is too dry)
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and B & V.
2. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; blend into the creamed mixture. If the dough is too dry, add 2-3 tablespoons of milk.
3. Divide dough into fourths and shape each into a log. Roll each log between two sheets of parchment paper to 1/8” - 1/4” thickness. Chill in the refrigerator for approximately 30 minutes.
4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Using cookie cutters, cut out desired shapes on parchment baking sheets, keeping same sizes together for even baking and place them baking on sheets.
